Spring Membership Class

The Valley of Boston would like to announce that the spring One day class has been named in remembrance of Ill∴ Richard H. Curtis, 33o.

This One Day Class will take place on Saturday, April 5, 2014, in Gothic Hall at the Grand Lodge building at 186 Tremont Street, Boston, MA.

Bro. Curtis was a veteran; he served in the United States Army from 1962 until 1964. Professionally, he worked as the Editor of The Northern Light, the official magazine of the Supreme Council of the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite for the Northern Masonic Jurisdiction. He retired as editor in 2006 after 37 years.

We hope you can join us for this special day, and we hope you will extend the opportunity to your Blue Lodge brethren to be a part of the Scottish Rite experience on this special occasion.

Message to the Brotherhood

Brethren, welcome to 2014! Two months ago, the Valley of Boston was holding the Fall Reunion and celebrating the 200th anniversary of the Scottish Rite’s Northern Masonic Jurisdiction. Some of us were even fortunate enough to see the Red Sox victory celebration. The seasons however, have certainly changed.

Despite being immersed in this frigid polar vortex, I would like to remind everyone that spring is just around the corner. This year our Spring Reunion will be held in honor of Richard H. Curtis, 33°. The Reunion will be at the Grand Lodge Building in Boston, MA on April 5th which is less than three months away! It’s time to get the word out to new Master Masons and those who are yet to receive their 32°.

I would like to extend to the Masters of Lodges in the Boston area that one of the Membership Committee members or I would like to speak to your Lodge about the Scottish Rite and the Valley of Boston. In just three years, I’ve traveled to most of the Northern Masonic Jurisdiction and have attended over 40 Reunions. Of all the most respected Valleys, the Valley of Boston is the best.

From The Secretary's Desk

As Secretary of the Valley of Boston, it is my special privilege on behalf of the Valley office staff to wish you and your loved ones a healthy and happy 2014. We are now well into the Scottish Rite new year and I would like to update you on office happenings.

2014 marks the first year that dues invoices were mailed in October instead of December. Returns have been very good so far and the Valley office not only appreciates the responsible manner in which so many responded promptly, but also your patience as we process thousands of payments. For those who have not yet remitted their dues a second reminder invoice will be sent out in February.

I would like to personally congratulate and thank the 25 members who sponsored two or more candidates during the 200th anniversary period of the Northern Masonic Jurisdiction. You will soon receive, via the mail, a 200th anniversary jewel as did those men whom you sponsored.
